I’ve had a job offer since approximately the middle of August, with a German network consultancy firm. At first, the contract specified a start date of September 1st, but that was postponed because I didn’t yet have a work visa (or Arbeitserlaubnis, in German), until October 1st. No such chance in Germany, and I dread to think of the consequences if one tried this little stunt.
In a little over two weeks, if I still don’t have a work visa, I’ll be planning my exit from Germany – not by choice, but because my current residency visa expires on October 31, and can’t be extended. Super…
