About Me

I am a 34 year old network engineer currently living in Berlin, Germany, although I’m originally from New Zealand. I work as a lead enginner / developer for a multinational VoIP consulting firm. I spend a fair chunk of time working with FreeSWITCH, Linux (Debian/CentOS), OpenIndiana, Patton, Polycom, Cisco and Juniper hardware.

I’ve been working in the IT industry for a bit over twelve years, with my main interests lying in Cisco, Juniper, Proxim outdoor wireless gear, and *nix. Throughout my career I’ve also worked with Novell NetWare and Microsoft Windows. I’ve also spent time in purgatory as a PHP/web developer, before discovering Django and the joy of programming in Python.

Outside of IT, my interests include photography, trance music, cycling, indoor rock-climbing, and travelling. I’ve spent about five years living in Europe (mostly Russia and Germany).
