About Me

I am a New Zealand born network engineer currently living in Berlin, Germany. I work as a Service Reliability Engineer (SRE) for a leading interactive entertainment company. I spend a fair chunk of time working with Linux, Ceph, Go, and Prometheus.

I’ve been working in the IT industry for over 20 years, with my main interests lying in networking (wireless / Ethernet / InfiniBand), Linux kernels, and highly scalable software like Ceph. Throughout my career I’ve also worked with Novell NetWare and Microsoft Windows. I’ve also spent time in purgatory as a PHP/web developer, before discovering Django and the joy of programming in Python.

Outside of IT, my interests include photography, aviation, and cycling. I’ve spent over ten years living in Europe (mostly Russia and Germany).
